1892 –“General” J. J. Rice, the “last inhabitant of Silver Mountian” dies in Genoa. His body was later brought to Markleeville for burial.

Senior Soak Mondays MHSA will be hosting at Grover Hot Springs State Park at 11am.  The park will be open to the public at this time and there is no instructor for a class but Alpine County Residents aged 50 or older can access the pools at no charge.   See Amy at the gate each Monday 11 – 11:30 am.

Alpine County Book Club meets 12:00 the last Thursday of the month at the library – We get a new book every month and discuss it at the following month.   We have men and women come to our group and have a lively discussion along with SNACKs.

Biomass Pile at Turtle Rock Park --Drop off will be on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning Saturday, APRIL 5, 2014 through Sunday, JUNE 15, 2014, and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014, weather permitting. The event will be CLOSED on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014.
